Pros

People were great before the layoffs. The company moves fast and never settles for less. You are given great training and encourage to always look to do your job better. Beautiful building Smart people

Cons

Hours. You are expected to do more with less Majority of Exec are horrible leaders. You get to the top by managing up versus doing a great job and being a good leader. Pay is not as good as they think it is. Don’t offer pension to new employees They don’t care who you are and what you’ve put into the company. I saw many people who have dedicated their lives to the company and were walked out. Never trust anyone there. The tide turns quickly. They care more about hiring diverse candidates than hiring the most qualified.

Pros

There may be a halo effect from a long time ago back when UP was a good company to work for.

Cons

Layoffs. UP upper management likes to fire people to appeal to Wall street. Middle management takes care.of their buddies. Good workers get treated very poorly. Management is extremely vindictive and retaliatory. Toxic work environment. Lots of backstabbing. If you are picky enough to keep your job then plan on lots of stress as you deal with the politics. This is such an awful place to work that UP quit publishing their internal work reviews because they know they suck and want to avoid acknowledging.

Pros

Some good managers and fellow devs are still left Salary & benefits are not bad. They are not as good as they should be

Cons

CTO, while bringing in some + changes, they have been low-hanging fruit for the most part and at minimal cost to the company in terms of dollars. Sweat and toil from the people that have to implement them, not so much. CTO continues to ignore feedback from management and IT on various policies hurting the company from being the best it can be. Promotions have become lopsided and more of who you know and not what you have done. People in positions of power use that carrot to surround themselves with yes people and ride the coattails of others that are making positive changes within the company. People who care about their job and coworkers have become burnt out and either leave the company or no longer have the passion and care they once did.
