Pros

They provide training, and have excellent benefits. Very safety conscious, and very well managed. Spans through several states, lots of opportunities.

Cons

I had very good experiences there. I took all the training I could, bid on assignments with lots of responsibility that few others seemed to want to take on. I can't think of anything bad to say about Union Pacific overall.

Pros

Great opportunities for advancement. Numerous training programs to increase trade knowledge and focus is always on safety and efficiency. Benefit of working in a nationally recognized and respected corporation. Top notch employee benefits.

Cons

Can be physically demanding. May have to travel often and spend time away from family. If working under agreement contract you are subject to seniority . Some positions are shift work including weekends.
