Pros

You get to meet amazing co-workers who you will interact and share knowledge together. And you also get to meet amazing customers where they come from different background and skills.

Cons

Since I started working directly with the company it has been a total nightmare. Insurance premium is a joke. Every paycheck half of it goes to insurance and what they are offering the state offer better for less. The pay rate is a joke, been told that I am well compensated for the job that I am doing, while new hires are making more than the older technicians that has been with the company for years. Have seen technicians come and go to the company and never last a month, sometimes a couple of days. I have come forward to complain about the rate situation but all they say is that I am well compensated. And all they do is pee on your leg and tell you it’s raining. They started micromanaging everything you do from hours to expenses. Recently they introduce me into a program that I told them consistently that I want to opt out, in which they refused. After months of waiting for a answer on how the mileage work, they got back to me after more than 5 months just to tell me that the program I will be earning less reimbursement for the same amount and sometimes even more miles. All they say is “not for debate” and if I don’t want it then I can just leave the company. They do not care about their employee, they want to paint a beautiful scene but is not how it all looks. They want to rub they care about their workers but they do not care. They have no plan of giving increase. And they keep cutting down your expenses for them to save a couple of bucks. When you show them the proof and common sense. All they say is if you’re not happy then you should leave. Is a joke of a company. Been working for this company for 4+ years and got currently hired for less than a year. And I was much better as contractor but now contractors are getting micro managed by only working 40 hours and if you do more than 40 hours, they will make you go into a conference and explain why you did so many hours and than they will remove those extra hours from you. They do not have plans of paying what the technicians are worth for their service and time. Gas price, parking, maintenance, Vehicle premium, etc Everything is going up while you still making less and less. Company they do not appreciate the work you do and the travel you have to deal with. Vehicle depreciate so much with the constant driving you have to do on a daily basis. Don’t expect to be well compensated for the time and travel you invest for this company because you will get little to nothing back in return. Also don’t expect any increase since they have told various times that nobody is getting a raise this year even next year there won’t be a raise.

Pros

The only good part about the assignment was the client I was assigned to work for. Very inclusive, welcoming environment, and they made me feel not like a contractor.

Cons

Unisys was the permanent company I was supposed to transition to after the first 90 days of employment as a contractor. After they finally reached out to begin the transition process (about one month late), they offered an hourly pay rate that was $3/hr less than the rate negotiated on my start date. 4 Months prior, during the hiring process, no such pay cut was disclosed to me, or I certainly would not have taken the job. At first, I thought some kind of clerical error was made, but then the recruiter got back to me and confirmed the lower pay was intentional, and that they would not be able to increase that hourly rate. I refused to accept it, and we went back and forth for weeks. After I told them I would not work for an employer who would do something that dishonest, they came back to me with a final figure of an hourly rate that was $1/hr less than the rate I was currently getting. I again refused, because if they were going to take this long and go all the way up to that amount, they could have done the right thing and gone up a little higher to my current pay. They told me they would reach out to me by end of day.. they did not. Finally, 2 days later after hearing no word back, I had enough of the stress and anxiety and resigned, because I already knew what working for them would have been like. It was a shame too, because the client didn't deserve to have their IT guy suddenly leave them in the lurch, but Unisys did not deserve the courtesy of a 2-week notice after what they attempted to do to me.
