Pros

Pros of working for UBC? Decent salary and benefits and a generous bonus every year. Some very nice people to work with.

Cons

UBC does a fine job at taking bright, hardworking employees, burning them out by refusing to hire the extra employees needed to do a job properly, then blaming them when something inevitably goes wrong. They make the classic mistake of overselling for the amount of staff that is available and trained to successfully create and test the product. They also make commitments to clients for products that staff doesn't have the knowledge and expertise needed to create and maintain. The others who have written about this company are telling the truth. If you are considering working for this company because you are desperate, keep in mind that once you start at UBC, you won't have any time or energy to find something else once you realize that you are in a living hell.

Pros

Lots of vacation time Work from home options Year end bonus You don't find these at most other companies.

Cons

Tremendous growth, but management is expecting staff to keep up the pace without any additional resources or administrative support structure. Rective and just-getting by is the norm, there is no opportunity to be proactive, breathe, or get organized. We are all burned out. Lack of communication between groups, even those who are expected to integrate/ work together after being considered separate business units for many years. No one knows what is going on. I am second-guessing my directives and goals, changing directions every week. I rarely see or hear from my boss unless there is an issue. No news is good news, but no response to questions when I have them makes it difficult to proceed. Dinosaur-aged technology is the norm. Nothing seems to work quite right. This is definitely not one of the greatest places to work, not even in the top 50%.
