Pros

Freedom to do what I need. The fame of working with something that is easily recognized by the general public. When its time for a launch all the people you know come out to ask for passes. The emphasis on safety is a good thing although sometimes taken too far.

Cons

Technology is WAY old, making it hard to be able to jump to other companies that have newer technology. Also the redundancy makes it too expensive. Quality inspector department has way too much power and little knowledge. Always overwritting what the engineer writes and asks for. That is the most embarazing department in the whole company, from there managers all the way down. Most inspectors are good but are afraid for there job.

Pros

Benefits are excellent (until January 2011), nature of the work, sense of accomplishment, enlighted management

Cons

Almost everyone will be laid off next year. Those who are left will have an awful benefits package.

Pros

You get to work with astronauts, travel to other countries, and create one-of-kind systems. The people are generally OK to work with, and you get good pay and benefits.

Cons

USA is part of the aerospace industry, so every year the Federal budget has a big effect on what gets done. Politics, rather than technical merit, plays a big role. All the contracts are very cost sensitive, so you rarely get any training to maintain your technical skills.
