Pros

United Way is a great place to work. There is a great deal of professionalism in the workplace, and everyone is very welcoming. Leadership is very committed to helping people develop their skills.

Cons

There is a lot of bureaucracy masked as "teamwork." You have to get everyone's input on projects that don't necessarily impact everyone.

Turn Around, Don't Drown

Pros

Several friendly coworkers who care about what they do. The company provides bottles of water. Different departments host the monthly staff meetings, so nice change of pace. Some supervisors will accommodate occasional schedule changes.

Cons

There has been a lot of contraction, the non-profit lost over $400,000 from 2013-2014, and the current outlook is pretty bleak. There's little job security, high turnover and below-average pay. You're responsible for cleaning. Lack of communication/cooperation between departments and management tended to be very slow in returning calls/emails, i.e. 3 weeks. Some unprofessionalism, seemed to struggle to organize, some managers do not care about the org's mission. Employees don't get much input.

Pros

Good place to work with great benefits and passionate people. Working directly with the network is the best part of the job.

Cons

Leadership is lacking in some departments and opportunities for growth are lacking within the organization.
