      Pros

      You get to work with some of the greatest people you'll ever meet. We're incredibly diverse and inclusive. Staff range in age, geography, race, etc. It's really easy to make friends and even the folks you don't go to hang out with on weekends are still really great at happy hours.

      Cons

      We're tackling a big agenda, often on less than adequate budgets. Compensation isn't great, but probably competitive for the sector when you factor in benefits. Work-life balance can be difficult to maintain.

      Pros

      There is a sense that people really do want to "do good" for the community, and some are there for that very reason. Excellent benefits with health and vacation time. They encourage you to volunteer and give you time to do so during the work day.

      Cons

      There is no true direction. If you don't "play by the rules" you will not fit in. There are some very strong ego's and personalities that you have to work around. Pay is on the low side even for a nonprofit.

      Pros

      Great experience. Learn to help people in your own community, while fundraising for a great cause, very rewarding.

      Cons

      Meeting campaign goals as assigned for the year. Much like a sales position in a large company. Expectations are sometimes too high.
