Pros

Overall it was a good place to work and offered the opportunity for advancement along with a friendly work environment.

Cons

There were some politics at the company and often times red tape bogged things down to the point where it was hard to get something done.

Pros

It's close to my home.

Cons

Underpaid and overworked and there are very few opportunities for growth. No real balance between work and home and no one really cares. We worked christmas and new year's eve when most companies offer these days as company paid holidays. Also, no raises in 2009, and I feel like 2010 will not be different.

Pros

If you are looking for a stable, consistent job that will has good benefits, UHG is a good place to work. The work hours are typical of most large companies, and have well-defined job roles for those looking for a specific set of responsibilities.

Cons

As a strategy, the company is outsourcing much of their IT and work offshore. Due to the financial strains and uncertainty in the economy and in the health care industry, budgets have been severely slashed, and "new" technology work is not being performed. Administrative overhead is frightfully high, with more time and effort spent on tracking and monitoring than actual work. Budget is usually spent on fragmented, smaller projects, rather than utilizing a larger budget to accomplish a true solution...which increases the cost of operations and maintenance, instead of developing the solutions to avoid the fragmentation entirely.
