      Neutral review for a growing company with ups and downs.

      Pros

      The company had many job openings all over the country which helps with career advancement. They promote telecommuting in some area. They have a generous employee stock purchase program which is their number one employee benefit in my opinion. UHC seems very liberal with the career advancement paths. You are encouraged to apply for jobs throughout the company. They have many different business segments that offer just about every type of job imaginable. They have a very generous Paid Time Off program too. It's not a micro-management environment which I think would be a plus for most people. The company has had some rough times lately but once it gets most of the big acquisitions properly aligned the company will take off once again and be a corporate giant.

      Cons

      The company has grown too fast and is too large. You are just a number as opposed to a person. The company has so many offices in so many areas that it's just too large to properly manage all areas with the current structure. I think there have been a lot of poor decisions made in the past few years. The decisions seem to have been made too hastily without proper due diligence. It's hard to be organized in an efficient way when you are so large. The health care benefits offered to employees are subpar compared to other companies. This seems like an obvious area of improvement considering they're in the health care industry.
