Pros

UnitedHealth Group offers telecommuting option alot of times and that's a positive. It also has alot of room for promotion and advancement at the job.

Cons

There isn't alot of consistency in company actions or new initiatives that are launched, only to be buried within a year.

Pros

The company is a good place to work if you like stability and the job security. Love working with my manager, and some of my coworkers.

Cons

There has not been much opportunities to move upward on the corporate ladder, being more of a horizontal change into different departments rather than vertical. Not much recognition for accomplishments.

Pros

There's a lot of opportunity to help this org manage change. Not only internally/back office in how things are done, but externally given the economy and focus on the healthcare system. This provides a great opportunity for growth. I also appreciated the ability to work remotely rather than move to MN or CT to manage my team. Although we worked hard to complete projects, there was a concern on our team for work/life balance to avoid burnout.

Cons

My most difficult challenge in my position was trying to drive change from a grass roots approach vs. a top-down approach. In many cases, there's a fear of change below the Director level which slows progress. People are in a job protection mode, especially given the current economy, and are less accepting to changing processes without stronger sponsorship.
