Pros

The people you work with, most faculty and students and coworkers are great. Work/life balance is great if you work yourself in any managerial position.

Cons

- No raises 3 years straight now - COVID is used as an excuse and cudgel for everything, even though endowment at an all time high - No investment in staff, research or facilities since Mangelsdorf took over - Parking is atrocious, $400-3000/year depending on which building you work.

Pros

Great people, phenomenal students. If you want a stable job it's fine, certainly. You could stay here for 20 years and never change what you were doing, if that's your thing.

Cons

Impossible to get a raise, no matter how amazing you are as an employee. You can't even see what salary bands are because theyre so hush hush about it. This breeds complacency and burnout. HR hides behind "fairness" when really what Ive seen is top heavy management and ineffectiveness across the board - lots of overpaid Deans, Assnt Deans etc , VPs and Provosts of things who have hefty salaries and mobility. Meanwhile staff are hustling and burning out. So, if you're not on top...good luck?

-Get the "honor" of working at prestigious university

Cons

-Will basically try to work you to death for very little pay, expect you to be available at all times even when you aren't working -Will not allow you a lunch break because supervisors do not take lunch breaks -Will not allow you a break because supervisors do not take breaks -Will not allow you to eat at events until all kids eat (even if you have your own food) -Not allowed so sit while children around -Have to use own phone to complete their ridiculous commands -Aggressive attitude from management -Culture of backstabbing, gossiping and drama even though all the people are in their 40's
