Upland could be much more than it is now

Pros

Flexibility is a major bonus and working from home. Usually don't feel like no one is watching over your shoulder. You are essentially left to it, sometimes it's bad, other times it's great. The company trusts their employees to do what they should - unfortunately it doesn't work at all times. Generally the teams I have met are friendly. Few people in Upland are at the core of the company in that they are like sticky tape, holding everything else together. Without their leadership and drive, the company would struggle to run well.

Cons

Disjointed systems due to the nature of the acquisition business. Poor data literacy in most people. Cumbersome integration processes. Key focus on sales and utilisation can make you feel like a factory machine worker (most likely due to the differences between American vs UK cultures). Poor review of performance and staff skills, an imbalance of abilities affects general workflow. Products can't compare with competition, bug fixes and product improvements take too long - company needs to think ways of preventing only few people becoming an expert about a particular product, and having others guess about how something works.

Pros

Upland is one of the few companies I've worked for that actually means "unlimited PTO". Obviously you can't be ridiculous about it but time off is encouraged and largely supported. Immediate management is effective and supportive at working with their employees to push for new changes and improvements. Pay is decent and insurance benefits are fairly good. I've worked for companies that would seem to be able to afford decent insurance but they never seem to provide that to their employees. Upland does.

Cons

The Bad: Upper upland management hand waves questions related to company-wide performance. They "stiff" us on our bonus in what seems to be arbitrary decisions on yearly goals. Hiring in the US has slowed to a crawl while hiring in India has increased. Our new team members are great but the time difference makes meetings and work sync quite difficult. While pay is decent, it leans more towards the lower end of the pay scale for cloud engineering positions. The Ugly: Expanding on the India additions. Someone is always miserable due to the time difference. The India teams have largely accommodated the US time zones, which is great for us but bad for them. Upland runs effectively a "skeleton crew" on the Cloud teams. We're spread too thin for the amount of work we have.
