Pros

Remote work Not many pros Seriously Not much else to add

Cons

Unrealistic Goals Contractors work different applications that require a lot more work than direct hires when you initially start Management treats you like they expect you to fail, because your a contractor You risk quality so you can meet production goals, but when you meet quality standards and actually take the time to treat our clients like they matter, you get hit with not meeting productivity goals. The support team that provides help for credit analysts are lot more approachable than my direct manager. You can teach and learn leadership, but you will always run into that One manager who's ambition to move laterally is more important than the success of his/her team. It's a young company with young leadership, that needs to reflect on what type of culture they want to establish outside of stats and numbers.

Pros

-2 week Covid sick pay -Team members are collaborative and are there to support each other -Operations managers are responsive and are willing to work with employees on any issues/problems that may arise

Cons

Hiring and Ops Team: -Job descriptions and interview process is misleading. Payments associates are working in glorified call center conditions. If I knew this during the interview process I would not have accepted the position. -Operations team is not treated equal to other departments -Operations team is required to work most holidays without alternate days off. -HR team is disorganized and often dismissive/slow to respond to urgent concerns Benefits/Pay and Culture: -payments associates not paid a living wage -will get trained on additional skilling and responsibilities without pay increase -PTO accrual rate is below the national average, you will only have 2-3 out of the allotted 10 days of PTO accrued after working 6 mos. -There is often a forced woke culture at Upstart. In company wide meetings and messages it will be stated "that we do everything we can to support our Upstarters" when often the basic needs of employees are not met. Can often be ableist and at times racist. Internal movement very difficult: -If you want to apply to an internal position, you will only be considered if you have already been working at your current role for 6-8+ mos. -This applies even if the you are more qualified for the new position

Pros

decent benefits, liked my team

Cons

layoffs, bad leadership team, not transparent, focus doesn't actually seem to be on providing quality support to the applicants or borrower... just getting as many loans funded and failed growth projects so it's easy to feel like you're job is kinda pointless
