Pros
If you’ve got a lot of years experience, the pay isn’t horrible. The insurance and benefits is suppose to be nice because it’s technically a state job and so insurance and retirement are state plans. You get a decent amount of sick time and vacation, but with how understaffed it is, it usually just piles up and doesn’t get used much. If you get sick with covid, they also give you 5 days of free sick time for that time out so that you don’t have to dig into your own sick time when you’re quarantined.
Cons
Understaffed, pay isn’t anything terrific unless you’ve got a ton of years experience. The parking situation isn’t the best, not the best areas, and in the winter the walk from the parking lots to the hospital can be pretty rough with poorly plowed sidewalks if you miss the shuttle or just decide to walk instead of take the shuttle service offered.
