Pros

-Swag -Snacks -Driven people -Unlimited PTO -Solid Agile process That's really all I have in terms of positives. These are positives that most startups inherently have.

Cons

-Way too many politics -Male dominated executive team -Fear based culture -People getting fired without an explanation -Lack of respect for employees -Lack of product vision -Overworked employees -High school drama like behavior amongst executive team -Underpaid employees -Lots of confusion with what people were responsible for as the company was scaling -Lack of transparency -Some employees responsibilities changed dramatically without any notice ahead of time

Pros

Incredible individual contributors brought together within a single organization. Opportunities to learn and grow from colleagues is high. Having around this group of people at a particular time was a privilege.

Cons

Did you read GE's lawsuit? Mediocre management at all levels. One possible reason is the role of "manager" is handed out to unqualified people while ongoing training programs supporting managers at all levels is absent. Returning to "Pros" section. All of the talent required to achieve Uptake's goal was present, management squandered that energy/momentum at each turn.

Pros

- Interesting problems to solve - Internal cohesion within teams is great - Lots of engaging activities for employees (kayaking, whirlyball, happy hours) - Very relaxed environment - Commuter benefits - Free coffee - Lots of free swag

Cons

- Each group has their own, different file sharing utility. This makes it very difficult to know where to find information and where to put good information when you get it - Several redundancies developing in client-facing roles, yet we keep hiring - Team members are accused of spying on the progress of the product, fostering an "Us vs. Them" environment - Too much focus on brand aesthetics and not enough on functional products that customers will want to use
