Uptake reviews

- Moral is very low - Every year employee benefits seemed to be reduced - No focus, I promise you that you will spend countless hours and months working on something just to see it get trashed or thrown out. - C level management is kind of a joke. Once GE execs came in, everything started going downhill fast and continues too - No direction - No Transparency. Brad Keywell did a good job of transparency in the beginning of the company then these GE execs came in and every response is some cookie cutter BS speech. - Will be a set back in your career and a waste of time. Don't do it no matter how good recruiters make it sound. The press you here about Uptake is not what is actually going on. Uptake looks good from outside but is an absolute mess internally. - Lots of lay offs without time to off-board projects creating a butterfly effect creating extra work for the remaining people without compensation which results in high turnover. It's sad to see Uptake head down this road. When I first started almost 2 years ago, the vibe was very energetic and motivating. Upper management couldn't make decisions and focus and killed all that. We will see if something changes but I don't have high hopes. Don't waste your time here as of now, look a different company, trust me.

The hype train of Uptake is massive, and generates more ideas than can ever be accomplished with little self awareness. The culture from the top gets very frustrated by people saying no or attempting to bring in realistic expectations. This has meant the more aggressive leaders are fired and the less aggressive leaders are sidelined or ignored, leaving mostly yes-men or the uninformed in middle management. (For example, if a team consistently estimates and completes 7-10 story points per sprint, failing to magically complete 90 points on a month deadline should not be unexpected.) The marketing hype leads to demoing wireframes, horrible hacks and mockups as real working code. And after the layoff of the entire QA department, when technical failures tanked multiple engagements, sales and upper management wrote it off as a "bad fit" and repeatedly failed to recognize the poor strategic decisions that lead to the problems. The brain drain is in full force. Whoever joins will need to pick up the pieces of a company that used to be 3x the size.
