Self-Destructive Culture

Pros

Onboarding was seamless and the HR team put in a lot of effort to make sure employees are valued and provided for. It was very fun working on a product with tons of potential.

Cons

Uptake has the lack of structure associate with start-ups and there are several talented and intelligent people who do try to improve it. However, almost anything that tries to get implemented get's ripped apart due to the bureaucracy and the vast amount of egos. I found the culture self-destructive, backstabbing, and stressful. There are several tightly knit cliques that would fight against each other and it was difficult to keep others accountable. Due to this culture, I witnessed coworkers hiding valuable information from one another, tantrums during meetings, and several project holds.

Fast-paced and Fun but Difficult

Pros

-Passionate co-workers committed to the end goal of making Uptake a key player in the Big Data IoT space -Best on the job training I've ever experienced -Visionary leadership from successful entrepreneurially-minded CEO -Fun, engaging work culture

Cons

-High stress due to the speed and volume of work -Lower than average salaries in comparison to the workload -Overstressed/spread very thin managers -There is a path for career growth, but in many departments it is very unclear

Good place to work

Pros

Fast-paced environment. Good product. Fun engineering challenges. Fair amount of autonomy. Still has the feel of a startup while becoming more of an established company.

Cons

Fast-paced environment. High growth leads to high amount of change. Overall a good place to work but not without its growing pains.
