Pros

- Well funded tech start-up - Lots of perks - lunch credit, snacks, t-shirts - Unlimited PTO - Work / life balance - I work 30-40 hours per week; and can spend time with my family and have a life outside of work

Cons

- Company has really lost its sense of direction, and I feel that we are trying to be everything for everybody. The Leadership Team really needs to correct course, and better define who we are and where we are going. - Too many silos and lack of transparency - Employee turnover is high, and no one addresses it. It's concerning to current employees that so many smart people have left the company. - We hire too many people. Many smart people are not utilized or confused about their respective roles and responsibilities. Our current space is hard to work in, there are people sharing desks and no room to breathe - Our product offering doesn't match current valuation or market needs - Frustrations of our customers create a stressful environment forcing product and engineers to feel the need to constantly pivot to something new to avoid barrier - We don't have a core competency or product - Uncertainty about what we actually do...are we a development shop, PaaS/SaaS company, or consulting firm?

Pros

There is a big emphasis on promoting a psychologically safe environment, which is necessary for innovation and creativity. Training provided to enforce the positive environment. Clear direction. Clear expectations. Phenomenal support for the employees. Perks are good. The largest collection of bright people I have seen assembled in one place outside of a university setting.

Cons

I was a contractor for 7 months prior to joining. In that time I raised concerns and objections. Surprisingly management and the supporting staff worked toward resolving the issues. I'm very impressed by the work environment and especially of the work.

Pros

Uptake has a lot of great people who know what they are doing. There are a lot to learn. It feels amazing how far tech has come in just a few years. People are helpful, friendly and responsive. Idea is to get a job done. Collaboration feels natural. There are many opportunities to make an impact and a contribution. New ideas feel welcome and the attitude is progressive. When mistakes are made, they're fixed and we move on. People take their work seriously. There's a number of areas, for example security, that are on a world class level. Things are being invented here. There's no lack of fun times either and I'm not talking about the beer tap and arcade games, but about hanging out with your coworkers.

Cons

If you ever worked at a startup, you'll feel at home. This is a really big startup. In startups you learn to compromise with all kinds of things. For instance, at the moment, seating space is tight, even though it's a huge space. Since there's a lot of people it gets noisy. You need to take ownership of tasks. There's a number of things going on at any given moment. To some people things like this are an issue and to some they're a plus. I've heard that there was a number of tech issues. That's one way to look at it. Another is that Uptake gets past issues and moves on to bigger ones.
