Th environment at Usablenet makes it impossible for any Project Manager to excel. There is no formal escalation processes and the people who are supposed to protect and support you can only critisise. You get screamed at by clients all the time, and you get no back up from senior management. So many people just dissapear from the company without anyone being told what happened. There is a culture of bullying and backstabbing from the senior team that makes everyone feel like their job is at risk. You cannot contact developers working on your project by phone, or even email; and that makes things very difficult when they are not in the same country. I am so glad that I left when I did. Hard work is not valued or rewarded. Almost 50% of the Project Managers have left the UK office in the last year. The stats speak for themselves. I would never recommend Usablenet as a place to work, but I do hope that things improve for the good and hard working Project Managers who are still there.
