Pros

I have been with UCCU for 12+ years and love the people I work with, love my job and wake up every morning grateful to be part of such an incredible organization!

Cons

I honestly don't have any complains. I started as a part time teller and was promoted to a full time Member service representative after 6 months. Few years later Senior Management offered me a position in mortgages and they gave me the opportunity to grow, learn and do well.

Pros

The best part about the credit union are the members and the front-line employees who are generally great and generate a productive and enjoyable atmosphere & culture. Pay is decent for front-line employees, especially since many are students who don't expect too much (after all, you could be working in fast-food) and need a consistent way to pay for getting through school. Bank holidays are definitely a plus. If you are full-time, retirement plan is decent if you can stick around long enough to get fully vested. If you're looking to get through school and work for a few years without any aspirations to move up, it's a decent place to work, just lie low, put your head down and do your job.

Cons

Success is rarely rewarded or recognized by upper management. Too much control at the top, branch manager aren't given as much input or responsibilities as they should receive. Hard to believe some of them actually support families on their salaries. The disconnect between senior management and the branches is huge, communication between the two is minimal at best. Certain members of senior management make arbitrary decisions that do not serve the good of the credit union, its employee, or even the members. Every company has politics, but at UCCU the politics are controlled by a VERY small number of people. Weak and ineffective leadership at the very top.
