Dramatic differences between departments; be careful

Pros

Many areas/departments have supportive supervisors with clear expectations. USU's stated values sound great and it can be a terrific place to work if you get the right project/department.

Cons

Workplaces within USU vary dramatically. Acadmic Department Heads can do anything they want, per HR, which means they are free to be unreasonable, hostile, and act against an employee for any whim. USU does not require supervisors to support employees with constructive criticism.

Flexible hours, opportunities to work within your degree or discipline. Easy to get in touch and get a position.

Cons

There's not always a lot of resources when you need help with research. I wish there were more individuals to rely on for assistance. Communication of research deadlines is also critical.
