Pros

It is a family friendly environment. Health insurance is great - very low cost passed onto employees. Paid vacation is great - a lot of paid holidays plus three week right from the beginning. Retirement savings plans are great - take a few years to vest (normal) but USU contributes a lot of money.

Cons

Bureaucratic. Slow moving. People work in silos. It's difficult to get collaboration to happen with a single office let alone across the campus. Employees who have been here forever who are no longer productive. Bad pay. Few raises. Few bonuses.

Pros

Friendly Environment. Cache Valley is beautiful 8-9 months of the year. The school is a big part of the community. USU Athletics and Performing Arts are the biggest show in town. The USU brand is well respected among those that have been exposed to it.

Cons

Some employees have a strong bias against the local culture and the religion of a large portion of the student body.

Cons

May feel like sleepy little town. Winters are long & freezing. You may tend to feel stuck in your comfort zone. Obtaining funds can be challenging for non-research disciplines
