Pros

A paltry sum of money called a "paycheck".

Cons

VCA views animal care as a business with little regard to the actual well-being of animals. As soon as VCA takes over a Vet practice, prices go up (arbitrarily) and quality of care declines. They send tenured techs packing (either by firings or by driving them insane with their calloused policies) and bring in people with minimal to no experience who they can pay less.

Pros

Schedule flexibility, great co workers and management, gratifying job if you are into animal care, good pay

Cons

Mandatory to work all holidays, with no exceptions, very small raises, understaffed resulting in a lot of 10 hr shifts that extend to 12-15 hour shifts. You can only leave when the Dr. says you can go despite what your schedule is.

Pros

The benefits for personal pets is amazing. Some issues my dogs have had would have been impossible for me to treat/fix had I not had the discount. There are good benefits for yourself too. It's also nice that you can transfer if you ever have to move. There are VCA's everywhere.

Cons

VCA as a whole, the company is great. Different locations are better to work at than others. A few issues I've found is that there is a lot of favoritism at all of them. As a huge animal lover and activist I get very bothered when people are hired that don't LOVE animals. If you don't care about animals then you shouldn't be working at a vet. Period. I'd like to see a more positive attitude amongst the staff too. Some people, especially in er, can be extremely hateful and rude.
