Pros

Good benefits and perks, decent pay

Cons

LOTS of multilayered management which leads to poor communication among the different levels (eg multi-state directors to regional director to hospital manager), poor pay for technicians, training and support lackluster

Pros

I worked at VCA Woodstock in SE Portland. Small team , no drama. Overall a real breath of fresh air coming from many other hospitals with so much team drama. When I worked here, all the doctors were amazing and kind. My supervisor Julie was also a doll and absolute pleasure to work with. Management was also very easy going and would work with any needs you might have.

Cons

It’s corporate, so as with all corporations, it comes with its issues. The prices for lab work and other diagnostic were extremely expensive and that was always a hard talk to have with clients. A nail trim at the time would cost 50$ This hospital is also very small and it’s also an older building so a lot of things in the building really need updated, but that is also something that gets pushed off. Also due to the small size of the building and staff. There’s not a lot of opportunities for growth and advancement.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at VCA Woodstock. We’re so glad to hear that you found the team environment supportive and positive it’s wonderful to know that your time with the doctors, your supervisor Julie, and the rest of the staff left such a meaningful impression. We also appreciate your honest feedback about the challenges. We understand that conversations around cost can be difficult, and that facility limitations can impact both the client and team experience. While being part of a larger network does come with some complexities, it also allows us to invest in advanced technology, medical resources, and broader support systems that might not otherwise be accessible in smaller, independent settings. That said, we know there’s always room to grow, and your insights help us do just that. Thank you again for your contributions and for sharing your perspective we truly value it.

Pros

I have made some friends

Cons

Increasing the prices constantly, or finding new things to charge for Terrible pay Veterinary medicine in general is already massively draining, both emotionally and physically. VCA uses their employees to make them as much money as possible, then takes all the profit while paying minimum wage The busy pace of the hospital made me unable to take my 10 minute breaks. I'm not saying VCA forced me to not take my breaks. That is on me to make that decision. But I absolutely wasn't the only one who just never had the time to take a break.
