Pros

Get to work with some great doctors and play with animals all day! They encourage employees to continue learning and work their way up (there were two doctors at the first hospital I worked at who began there as room techs). It's hard work, but you truly make a difference for pets and their owners.

Cons

I worked at two hospitals; the second one had terrible management and one of the doctors was stubborn and often made the rest of the staff feel incompetent and worthless (though we always had to clean up issues with unhappy clients they got themselves into). Also, as much as each hospital has their own culture and "feel," at the end of the day this is a corporation. Though they encourage employee feedback, changes are slow to happen. Compensation isn't great, either.

Pros

Discount and working with the pets

Cons

This company is extreamly disorganized. They purchase already existing practices and try and bring in new rules. There is very little communication between clients when new things are implemented leaving peaople very confused. There is little supervision from the company allowing abuse in the work place. Pay is terrible and hardly livable.

Kennel (Boarding) Supervisor

Pros

Working in the boarding kennels it is necessary to have a flexible schedule to accommodate the ever changing volume of animals in our care. This means it can be easy to get time off for vacations IF planned during a slower part of the year.

Cons

When everyone else is on vacation (Holidays) is when our work in the kennels peaks. This means kennels staff usually spends our holidays at work, rather than with our families.
