Pros

None-- it's a paycheck if you can call it that..

Cons

LOW pay.. No official training on policies or procedures. Frequent schedule changes throughout the week Full time does not mean 40 hours as promised Supervisor doesn't communicate well if at all To much drama between employees-he said she said, highschool drama 12 hr shifts - No breaks aside from lunch Employees mishandling dogs Excessive cussing by employees- aimed towards the pets Clear division between departments No teamwork- newbies are treated like outcast and assigned the task no one wants and haven't done in ages No safety precautions during daycare Medication not administered correctly- packed in a pill pocket and stuffed through the cage "they'll eat it eventually" - which is FALSE This list could go on and on....

Not the worst experience

Pros

Got to work 9am-5pm, pay was okay.

Cons

Hospital manager was best friends with one of the other receptionists so she got away with murder. Me and one other person got stuck doing the majority of the work. The DVM's were rude and let the techs treat us like idiots at times. I got stuck closing every night and if an emergency sx came in I had to stay late. Sometimes for hours and sometimes several times a week. If you have kids its not very predictable.

Corporate Veterinary

Pros

Consistent, top notch veterinary medicine. Many checks and balances to being a VCA veterinary hospital, one can be proud of working for an industry that provides great medicine. Great opportunities and pay for technical staff!

Cons

At the basis of it, it's a corporation. You are a cog, especially if in a what they call non-earning position such as admin. Although we keep the machine running at top performance the employee value is not there.
