Pros

Position is easy to master and can become monotonous, but if you enjoy being busy at night, sometimes till 1 and 2 am, and understand that each emergency and client that comes in through the door is unique and presents a challenge then you will do fine.

Cons

Depending upon your supervisor, it can be extremely difficult to get time off with 3-4 weeks notice required, no say in which days you will work, and even though you get 2 days off they may not b back to back, working every weekend is a must, especially sundays

Cons

Sacramento, CA, VCA region is HORRIBLE to work for. Management is incompetent and completely unprofessional, starting with regional management on down. Employees generally underpaid except for select few who are favorites. They care only about money, and not at all about employees who are backbone of hospital. Techs are disposable, even if you have years of experience and great skills and employment history, they will happily replace you with someone they can pay less. CE allowance for techs is a joke, they come up with every excuse not to give it to you. Gossip and unprofessional behavior is rampant at all levels, no one is ever held accountable for their actions, even doctors who are verbally abusive to staff and create a hostile work environment.

I loved this job! I was able to care for and play with dogs for a good portion of my day. My coworkers were wonderful, my managers were understanding, and everyone was there to help one another. The techs were always eager to teach and assist you whenever needed.

Cons

There was a lot of cleaning involved, sometimes not for those with weak stomachs. What can you expect, you're in an animal hospital!
