Pros
I love being able to work with animals all day, working in the boarding kennels is great.
Cons
The days are long, 10 hours. No breaks except a 30 minute lunch and the kennel people have no access to seating so we have to stand and walk around for the entire 10 hours. The schedule is set which is nice but I wish it was managed better. Working 6 ten hour shifts before you get a day off isn't how the 4/10 system was meant to work. Also, I've notice since VCA took over (we were previously veterinary run) that money is the biggest concern instead of client relations or the well being of the animals. We aren't allowed to work overtime and get in big trouble if we wind up getting even an hour of overtime pay and even the clients have noticed a change in the way things are handled now that vca is running the show.
