Would not recommend working for VCA.

Pros

Benefit package is in line with other vet clinics. Decreased cost on meds, services etc. Normally pretty good at letting you get time off.

Cons

No respect for the individual, typical corporate uncaring attitude. So focused on growth and acquiring new clinics. Not enough time transitioning the personnel. Managers and Medical directors are not held to the same standards as associates. Very much focused on the bottom line, making us question whether that truly is quality medicine. Have seen several people fired without just cause, i.e. NO job security. Just poor management all around. Would not recommend working at VCA unless you really had no other options.

Pros

Casual dress for most. Some departments allow dogs. "Campus" feel. Sports ticket lotteries. Occasional early Fridays near holiday weekends. Summer flex days for some.

Cons

Very expensive health insurance, like $8k for a couple per year. Not enough paid holidays, maybe 5. Only 3 sick days per year that accure every 4 months and expire at year end. Summer flex days are only for some. Parking for non-management is is a long way from the office. Perks and treatment differ by department.

Pros

VCA Antech offers great benefits for pet owners. They are a leading name in veterinary medicine, and I believe our hospital provides above-par medical care that I am proud to be a part of. They offer a lot of CE opportunities.

Cons

They do not offer fair and equal starting wages for technicians. I think the individual needs of practices are over-looked by corporate.
