Pros

First off, you're saving puppies and kittens, basically. Very rewarding stuff. VEG culture is very potent, almost a little cult-like, but it's very upbeat and positive. The founder is so personable, he has Q&As every few weeks and he makes sure to know every person who joins. You're given a lot of freedom when things are slow, to do yoga and take naps and have spontaneous CE. Expect lots of staff outings (COVID permitted, anyhow) and food (so much food for employees) and a really approachable management team. I love this job, and I think all of my coworkers do, too. I do get paid much more than I did at other clinics.

Cons

Really just the same cons you would expect in any veterinary setting. Long hours, depressing shifts, can be a bit unpredictable. There is always a need for coverage, especially at the 24/7 hospitals. You can expect to stay late frequently.

Pros

VEG is the only ER I have ever been to or worked at where every single employee is smiling for most of their shift. VEG cares about their employees and will go above and beyond for them, from organizing a yearly retreat for every single staff member and their family, to ordering a food delivery service weekly to make sure we are eating well, even on busy shifts. The growth opportunities are endless. Most importantly, the culture is what keeps everyone here. We are a family and treat each other with love, appreciation and respect. Headquarters and management work closely together to maintain a positive work environment and keep all employees happy, satisfied, appreciated and inspired. I can't even understand why anyone would work at another ER. If you love emergency medicine, VEG is your forever home. Make emergency medicine a career!

Cons

I couldn't think of any if I tried

Pros

Good PTO benefits. You can bring your dog to the office with you. Hybrid work schedule (WFM on Fridays)

Cons

It gives you a good impression at 1st, They claim to want to foster an environment of "togetherness" but that goes out the window soon after. At least in the dept, I was in, it was very clicky, During training, I experienced a condescending attitude from specific people and I became uncomfortable with asking questions. They are working on automating most of the work, this is good and bad, as it eases some of the work, but there will likely be no job security, on top of a not a very welcoming work environment for growth.
