Thanks so much for the kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you’re enjoying the benefits and culture—we work hard to make VEG a place where people feel supported and proud to be. You're absolutely right: as we grow, things evolve, and we know that can come with shifting expectations. We’re grateful for VEGgies like you who adapt, lead through change, and help us keep VEG’s culture strong along the way.

Pros

Corporate is extremely supportive - they provide all the CE you could want and don't make you pay for it out of pocket. They are constantly working to hype you and your team, and the entire VEG rocket ship with positive culture and feeling important and included. They embrace DEI and have more holidays than any other company - YES they include Juneteenth and xmas eve and new years eve! I would work for a VEG again in a heartbeat - as long as the leadership is VEGtastic! I truly miss it, and feel Bessler and I could be besties.

Cons

All of my cons are local management. My doctors were worried that the medical director would chews them out for performing cutting edge medicine that has evidence behind it. Despite VEG corporate's stance on inclusion, local leadership was not inclusive. The DEI at my hospital was nonexistent. We were accused of gossip when we had banter. So many people who didn't gossip were let go because of this excuse, and a DVM who would gossip nonstop despite being armadillo'd has remained - this indicates favoritism and inconsistency on the part of the local leadership. When I reached out to HR about things, they referred me back to the people person of the hospital, and he refused to reply to my communication - he was part of the problem. And the employees were afraid to say anything lest they be fired. As a team on the floor we were amazing, cohesive, and practiced amazing medicine as our teammates were let go, slowly and suddenly. We were terrified of speaking up because of schmedge leadership - nurse manager and medical director were culpable.

Thank you for sharing this. We're really grateful you experienced the power of VEG’s supportive culture, continuing education, and DEI efforts—and that you'd come back in the right environment means a lot to us. That said, what you described at the local level is deeply concerning. We never want any VEGgie to feel isolated, unsupported, or afraid to speak up. Culture shouldn’t just exist at the corporate level—it needs to be felt consistently in every hospital. Your feedback about local leadership, communication breakdowns, and fear of retaliation is being taken seriously, and we’ll be looking into it further. We’re sorry this was your experience, and even more sorry it wasn’t addressed before you left. If you’re open to it, we’d love to hear more—please feel free to reach out directly to Stephanie DeMars at stephanie.demars@veg.com.
