Pros

one of the largest hospice agencies in the u.s opportunity to work with great colleagues in the field and learned alot from other discipline working with terminal patients and their families was very rewarding feeling

Cons

lazy, incompetant, poor and disorganized management, no gratitude for field staff, no raises, left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing, low morale, very high turnover, questionable termination practices as only offer at will employment but also you must sign a no compete clause preventing you from working for another hospice company in the area. on call coverage in which you are required to work for entire week and weekend after hours in which you go to some of the most dangerous areas of city at 3 am without any concern for your own personal safety. total focus is on making a profit and getting new patients. patient can be on death door but company wants you to have pt or family revoke hospice at hospital to prevent paying hospital bill.

Pros

It's great to offer Vitas services to the physicians offices and hospitals. Vitas is the best in caring for your love ones. The nurses and the caregivers are amazing, they really care!

Cons

Stressful job due to pressure from your manager. 1st time you don't hit your monthly goal the rep will get verbal warning. 2nd month you don't hit your goal the rep will get written warning, 3rd month is final written warning and 4th month the rep is out! The turnover for this job is fast, Vitas can't hold on to great Reps due to pressure given by the management. Once the rep hits the goal on a monthly basis, the manager will increase your goal the following quarter not considering a lot of factors. I loved doing my job as a Vitas but the unreasonable pressure is too much!

Pros

Experience. Very rewarding working with Hospice patients/families.

Cons

Having to work 10+ hrs day to care for patient load AND spend 3-6 hours every week completing redundant paperwork at home while being paid a salary for a 40 hr work week. Needing to apologize for the company you work for versus proudly representing them as a result of increasing demands, and decreasing ability to provide quality care to a fragile pt/family population.
