Enthusiastic field teams that are willing to help out Large ecosystem of partner solutions that fill many of the gaps in VMware's own products

Cons

Arrogance of product management. Absolute lack of customer focus. Political infighting among managers damaging the career prospects of their direct reports Career progression is not based on capabilities. Taking credit for the work of others is encouraged and is the only way to progress your career. EMC influence is most definitely a negative influence and is getting worse. Forget the prospect of any decent career opportunities if you reside anywhere other than the US or aren't willing to relocate to the US.

Pros

Technology and market leader in a highly relevant business. Customers loves core products and know them very well. Good opportunities to get knowledge and skills

Cons

Many customers are disappointed with high cost and strict license agreements. Much of the business is dependant on partners which seem to have trouble find low hanging fruits since the market for core product is saturated and getting new product lines into customer are a challenge. Internal tools are very dispersed which makes it difficult to productive.

Local branch management not always understand business Some "preferred" employees Local manager "Only-my-friends-matter" environment in sometimes Sometimes when you are new to the company, Sr SEs give your hard time....later on you are part of the team.
