Pros

The environment and product are fun(at times).

Cons

Mid to upper management is out of touch, habitually over promising for deliverables they will never have to personally work towards all in the interest of political success within the organization. Pay is very low for the demands and despite all their efforts to provide "the experience of a lifetime", they do not truly support a good work to life balance for their employees. Undervaluing the employees extends far beyond monetary compensation.

Pros

I was a full time ski instructor at Vail for 5 years after college. Having the opportunity to work on a world class mountain with great colleagues, facilities, and clients was in many ways one of the more rewarding experiences of my life. . . And it set me up with the communications skills needed for current corporate job.

Cons

Vail Corporate is the ski industry equivalent of Voldemort . . . Seriously, they are that terrible. Corporate cares very very little about mountain employees including anything related to compensation, benefits, managers, and retainment.

Pros

A ton of rewarding experiences and connections for a lifetime. You'll get to do great things in your career at Vail Resorts and can take that experience anywhere. The environment allows for re-imagination and forward thinking and employees are encouraged to take their career development into their own hands.

Cons

While you can do anything you put your mind to at Vail Resorts, there are not a lot of promotions at the mid-managment level. There are a ton at entry-level to mid-managment jumps. It is hard to move upward into a true leadership role, unless you have put in a lot of years or come into the company from the outside. There is also a competitive attitude across employees; so you have to be up for a pretty intense environment.
