A company that doesn't care about you at all.

Pros

Good discounts on outdoor gear.

Cons

I worked for this company for 4 years and every year they cut the benefits more and more. The last year I worked there the annual raise cut to less than half that of the years before and took away benefits that were promised when I accepted the job. They continually tell you how everyone is replaceable. If you stay with the company for more than a year you will see how lots of people come and go once they see how the company is run. I understand that business is about making money, but happy employees makes you more money. Business 101.

Poor Human Resources Function!

Pros

Some great people work here.

Cons

The HR organization as a whole is a mess with poor leadership. Have had the worst employee engagement scores in the company. Something needs to be done to fix this. If the HR department is unhappy - just think how bad the other departments must feel. No career progression in HR due to people staying in their roles forever so most have to leave the organization to move into a different job. The corporate HR function does not support the field offices.

Pros

easy work, talk about skiing all day long, friendly managers and employees, diverse set of employee compared to the rest of corporate, ski pass, discounts, business comes in spurts, good for young college grads, it will make you love skiing more if you're not already hooked, treats in the office, paid 30 minute lunch, lenient and flexible scheduling, room for advancement, end of the season is so dead you have time to look for next job, nice clean office, excellent work/ life balance, no work when you leave work, easy commute out of Denver, innovative company, deal with mostly affluent clients, so they are more intelligent / understand better

Cons

repetitive, pay is not great but fits the position, not long term, senior upper level management doesn't care about you, somewhat under recognized for role in company, have to tell customers inaccurate and unethical things like we will send you to the collection agencies, no you cannot cancel the pass even if you are lifelong customers/ your daughter is sick. Vail is like any other her large corporation, deceitful to a certain extent. Most of it from irresponsible people not buying insurance and something coming up. but managers make exceptions that agents cannot, people either love or hate vail, the people that hate it call in so you deal with people against Vails transformation of the industry.
