      Pros

      various carreer options around the United States, used to have good perks, if you can "play the game" - you'll have no problems.

      Cons

      extremely political, when you voice an opposition to senior management (even when the issue is morally and ethically unfair - you will be excluded or slowly pushed out of projects

      A great company, but it is not for everyone

      Pros

      Excellent, stable company. A strong sense of family in many areas. Giving back to the community is an important part of the culture. The work is challenging and rewarding, though this has slowed somewhat as Valero is no longer growing through acquisitions.

      Cons

      The company tends to run lean from a personnel standpoint. Too much work, and not enough people to do it. There are some downsides of being in a very mature industry. A very large company, but still run like a small one in many respects.

      Pros

      Large company. Some benefits are good but management has changed policies without providing advance notice or fairly implmenting changes.

      Cons

      No longer a sense of community/team. Company has become politcal machine, 'it's who you know'.
