Pros

Benefits are good, ASRS retirement is vested after 5 years. People are GREAT! They work here because they care about people and helping those who need it most in our community. Everyone is treated with respect. The teaching aspect of the hospital pervades the environment and everyone is helpful and willing to take time out to educate, train and teach.

Cons

ASRS contribution is more than most 401/403k contributions. If you are counting every penny in your paycheck this can come as a big surprise.

Pros

Excellent Retirement and health care benefits.

Cons

New employee orientation is well organized. Once you leave orientation you see the real politics, the county mentality, and good ol' boys clubs. Leadership values are not aligned with the mission and vision. It's a dictatorship. Employees are not valued. Ethics and values are nonexistent in the leadership. Poor work life balance, don't expect to fulfill your role as a parent if you want to work here. You will be a slave to your phone and e-mails even on your days and you will not be compensated for it in any way. Creativity is not welcomed. It's not what you objectively achieve, it's how you suck up to your leadership.

Not a good place to work

Pros

The Arizona State Retirement is a good program, but they do take > 11% of your pay. This is the only good thing I can say.

Cons

NO training. NO orientation. Told there is no job description, there never will. Here's your job, figure it out, make it up as you go along. No teamwork. No support system. Unsafe. Someone made the comment "If you don't fit in here when you first get here, you never will." And they will let you know it. I, for one, truly wish I would have heeded those words.
