Pros

The pay checks still cash

Cons

Forced to do multiple jobs. They do not cover vacations. Whatever they tell you in meetings the opposite is always the truth. Every year I have worked here they have take something from the hourly work force. Last year they "did us a favor" by eliminating the year end bonus and giving it to the salary team.

Pros

Good compensation, benefits package and bonus structure. Smaller office as far as number of employees is a nice benefit even though Vallourec is a larger company. Good travel opportunities from time to time because of the many regions and countries the company does business in. For the most part a great group of employees. As a whole the company is very close to being a GREAT place to work. A few tweaks could turn the direction around and make it a gem in the oil industry.

Cons

Management is strong in believing in top down management which results in employees that actually do the work being ignored. They talk about listening to employees thought process, recommendations and needs but they simply don't when it comes time for action. Extremely high turnover rate of mid and upper level management due to expat structure kills leadership roles and any company direction. Many of the expats seem to only be interested in making a splash that looks good rather than long term success. This kind of culture also fosters a glass ceiling for American employees who can see ways to improve the company’s product, efficiency and morale. When the time comes for any kind of management job Europeans always seem to be given preference which hurts the business.

Pros

The benefits (healthcare, 401k, and PTO), the base pay, and monthly bonuses. Originally my schedule was 4 days on 4 days off which was great. Some of the people you work with are really cool and down to earth. It’s a great place to work if your interested in working a lot of overtime and contempt in your own little area. The pay is a lot of money for some of the jobs it seems they pay too much. Some jobs you earn the hell out of your money. But to be truthful there isn’t a hard job in this company as far as production goes. If you can play politics well you may have a chance to be someone important.

Cons

No matter how hard you work, how early you show up, or how much you care when things go south you could get laid off or fired. I was fired and rehired into a different department. I now work 60 hours a week with one or two days off because of the swing shift. The bonuses are getting smaller and smaller. Overall morale is bad because management gives bad vibes with their attitudes and looks down on production workers. It’s a very political company and if you don’t know anybody high up you won’t stick around when layoffs come.
