Organizational Headache

Pros

Nothing comes to mind unfortunately.

Cons

Constant "game of thrones" behavior from senior leadership. There's too many executives obsessing over their job title and place in the food chain. Valtech is a consortium of poorly acquired companies and constantly dealing with the headache of having zero strategy when doing so. There are still colleagues referring to their former companies as if they still exist and a number of leaders who simply can't get on board with the fact that these companies belong to Valtech now.

Pros

- Remote working - Flexible working - Some excellent people still work there (though they are leaving in droves)

Cons

- Immense lack of projects/work to do - All great talent that were acquired during the acquisitions of other companies have left or been made redundant - Progression has been completely halted, impossible to get promotions and high-achievers are being marked down in their annual appraisals - UK work is being outsourced, the projects then fail and we lose the client - and the UK teams are being punished for this - Existing clients that we have had great relationships with for ages are being taken away - Use of tools removed - Feels like i've regressed to working at an agency decades out of date, can't even access the tools we need to do our jobs as Valtech decided to cancel all our subscriptions. - It's become clear that Valtech don't see us as people, but disposable tools. There had always been support in the past if someone had a difficult project/client - that's long gone. You're just handed off to go use a mental health app instead of dealing with and supporting your employees -Comms are DREADFUL. Stop posting celebrations whilst also sending out redundancy consultation emails - AI? What AI. Decide you're an AI company, tell us all you'll give us training and expect us to use it in our day to day.. but then won't give us any licenses? That would mean paying for new tools and as stated above - you refuse to use anything that's less than a decade old. I've been paying out of pocked for my own subscriptions. Working in consultancies will always have highs and lows based on client demand, but its only been on a downhill trajectory since we were acquired. The UK offices are being decimated, good talent leaving, our work is being outsourced - perhaps this was planned all along? You might make some money in the short-term, but it won't save the company.
