Pros
Work/life balance is okay. Compensation is average.
Cons
This company offers very limited career progression. Career progression here is reserved for family members who ‘work’ at this company or those who fit into the old boys club. The company is ‘family-run’ NOT family oriented at all. You think family run would be a positive, but in this case definitely not. Compensation is average, but again high wages are reserved for family members/favoured employees at the company. Employees who are ‘engrained’ into the culture abuse the system without being reprimanded. Often these jobs are just handed to these members, and they have no concept of professionalism or work ethic. You’ll see these people slacking off, playing with their cell phones, causing constant distraction, incessantly gossiping and sometimes bullying other employees for what seems like fun to them. It’s really quite sad and pathetic to see so much wasted energy and air being taken up by these people. To summarize, the culture and values of this company are toxic and disingenuous. Yes the company does have diversity, but the cliques that exist here, you would think you were in high school. If you don’t fit into these cliques prepare to be ostracized. Unfortunately like almost every company, bullies exist at this company. They use isolation, act like managers when they aren’t, micromanage, talk aggressively, throw temper tantrums, and lack emotional intelligence. It’s really quite sad and pathetic to see fully grown adults acting like school bullies at work. You think these people would better themselves, but for whatever sick reason, they need to thrive off of this mentality. If you’re working with people for years, why sour relations? Overall senior management has failed at recognizing any of the above, and rather it seems they promote this type of negative behaviour.
