Pros

Senior management is always glad to listen to ideas, complaints, anything. They will take the time if you ask for it. Flexible work hours and location. Good amount of variable compensation. Good medical benefits + new fitness program.

Cons

Unlimited PTO is great but managers do not respect personal time anyway. Holidays, weekends, nights - all interrupted on a regular basis. Mid-level managers tend to be a bit power hungry. Very cliquey, only the favorites get promoted.

Great when it was small, but culture has changed

Pros

When the company was smaller, it truly felt like employees mattered. Teams were collaborative, people were supportive, and leadership seemed committed to building a positive culture. There were strong benefits, including unlimited PTO, education support, and a sense that employees were trusted to do their jobs well.

Cons

As the company has grown, much of that culture has shifted. Several employee-friendly benefits were reduced or eliminated (for example, unlimited PTO was replaced with three weeks, education benefits were removed, and MLK Day is no longer observed, 401k matching doesn't come close to what most other companies do). The company frequently promotes the concept of “lean teams,” which in practice often means fewer people doing more work while compensation hasn’t kept pace with expectations. This can create a culture where employees feel undervalued and overextended; it's become toxic. Leadership development is another challenge. Managers are often promoted without prior management experience or training, which leads to inconsistent leadership and communication styles across teams. In many cases, the employees who advance are those who align closely with leadership rather than those who foster healthy, collaborative teams, which causes more toxicity. Overall, the environment feels very different from the supportive culture that existed earlier in the company’s history.

Generation Veeva Experience

Pros

The Generation Veeva program is a development program for students just out of college. The Generation Veeva program is two years long, typically around 18-24 months. There are numerous programs under Generation Veeva such as Sales, Product Management, Consulting, etc. Generation Veeva is the best developmental program in the life sciences as it beats the chicken and egg problem - You need a job to get experience but you need experience to get a job. This program is fast-paced and often stressful but it provides students a great foundation for the rest of their careers. I believe this program is one of the highlights of Veeva.

Cons

Company is growing very fast so there are often growing pains. A lot of process knowledge is frequently not documented and when it is, it's usually outdated. The benefits have been shrinking as of late. For example, unlimited PTO has been reduced to a hard 15 days which includes sick days. Also, Veeva has been taking back it's "Work Anywhere" policy but enforcing employees to work out of the offices majority of the time. Also, the pay is incredibly low when compared to industry wages for the same role and experience.
