      Mid size company that feels corporate.

      Pros

      - Close proximity to leadership - Great location in Somerville - Friendly and hard working co-workers - Fun company outings

      Cons

      - More turnover than most companies I've worked for - Got lowballed extremely hard on salary initially, offensively so. - For a mid size company, the development process was very strict and unforgiving to the engineers - Management required detailed estimations from the engineers, then would move deadlines up multiple weeks/months at times ignoring the engineering estimates to satisfy clients - This despite daily standups. - At least 20% of each day was spent in meetings. - Had to work several weekends to make up for upper management scheduling mistakes

      Hard to say these days.

      Cons

      Unless you want to work for a company where senior management is trying to grow into roles they are ill equipped to fulfill, then I’d stay clear and find employment at a more stable and well-managed company. Employees aren’t supported and when they try to voice their concern to “senior” team members, they are ignored. What’s the point of having a People Operations department if they aren’t trusted for their knowledge or as a support to employees? My suggestion to management is listen to your employees and support them. Maybe, just maybe, this will help curb your excessive turnover.

      Great people, immature upper management

      Pros

      Velir is a fabulous place for liberal people that care about recycling, LGBTQ rights, inclusion and just simply being kind to each other.

      Cons

      Upper management is inexperienced in the act of running a technology company. Often doesn't see the forest for the trees and focuses energy on minutia instead of addressing the real issues.
