Pros

Fully remote, generous time off, summer Fridays. Some employees are genuinely nice folks.

Cons

Oh boy. There are a lot of drawbacks, here. Days are packed with back-to-back meetings. Days have to begin early for clients in East coast/ Europe, and you will still have to stay late for client meetings for those on the West coast. Growth team makes promises to clients that are totally unattainable, and when expectations are not met, then the client thinks the shortcoming is because the team hasn't worked hard enough. Team often asked to work weekends and holidays to meet aggressive timelines. Since the days are so dense, it's incredibly difficult to pivot when urgent needs come up. Most team members are deeply burned out. No one at Velir has ever discussed career paths, so roads forward are totally unclear. Team members are allocated at 100% for client work (40 hours a week billable), and then also asked to attend all-hands meetings, lunch-n-learns, management meetings, department meetings and to consult on Sales. NONE of those are included in that 100% allocation - that's all on top of the 40 billable hours. Expect a 47 or 48 hour work week with 8 to 12 meetings a day. Developers are the only ones who get allocations for professional development.

Pros

There are a few diamonds in the rough, in terms of coworkers, but you have to sort through a cold and uncaring culture to find them. Depending on your manager, you can wrangle some degree of flexibility, but that did not seem to be everyone's experience.

Cons

Where to begin? If you have been working at Velir for longer than 5 years, you may not resonate with much of this. That's because folx who have tenure at velir are treated wildly differently than newer staff. And the tenured staff treat the new people differently too. If you work there long enough, you'll start to feel like you're in high school with all the cliquiness. Leadership does not care about how you're doing. They only care if you match their 100% billable target. 100%!! You read that right. Echoing a few of these other reviews, if you make one or two mistakes, you'll be met with "agency life is not for everyone" instead of mentorship or support on how to meet your goals. The recent merger with brooklyn data co was a disaster, and velir were so rude and uncooperative with us when we joined. I've never worked somewhere with a less caring and supportive culture. RUN - don't walk - away from any possible opportunities here!

Pros

Decent pay and vacation time

Cons

So many cons which is why really good people are quitting or have been fired -- they don't know who they want to be and are going backwards. Do not take a chance here.
