Changing for the Worst!!

Pros

Competitive salaries, training, benefits and culture.

Cons

There is a growing disconnect between corporate and their existing properties. Company is continuously cutting the budget for things that made Venterra the great company it used to be. They cut down on small things such as welcome gifts, upgrades, hospitality items for prospects, event budget, employee compensation, etc. It may not seem like a big problem from corporate’s point of view but the residents/prospects/employees are noticing and they are turning their eye elsewhere. The competitors around are investing into their properties. Meanwhile, we are cutting corners on small things and expecting consultants to step in and produce sells based on personalities alone. The thing is, the new leasing process is a step by step routine that leaves little room for personality. It’s all about the sale. You’re also getting tested on how well you follow the steps. See the issue? Lower management is pressured to make due with the budget that they have. It is becoming unrealistic. All of this happens while Venterra buys new property after new property. It is still a good place to work but I am afraid Venterra is heading down a bad path. This company is losing its core values along with some great people.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your candid thoughts about your experience with us. Although it’s disappointing to read that you feel things have changed for the negative recently, having feedback like yours is critical to our improvement as a company and to maintaining trust and the connection between our onsite teams and the decisions made at the corporate level. While change is inevitable for growth as an organization, we absolutely need to ensure that our policies and procedures match the needs of our employees and residents. Given the content of your feedback we’ve looped in those responsible for making changes to our leasing process to your concerns here so they can be fully considered and actioned, as needed. We remain dedicated to the Core Values that make Venterra a unique and attractive place to live and work and appreciate the opportunity to reflect on them in regards to your comments here. Pros

Lots of holiday time off

Leaders who have the emotional quotient of a junior high student. Regional Maintenance Supervisors who abuse their power. If you’ll be Lead around by the nose and partake this company’s for you.

While we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on your time with us, I’m definitely concerned about your feedback regarding the leaders you interacted with during your tenure. We have specific training and a number of initiatives focused on delivering exceptional employee experiences, but doing so absolutely requires leaders who are dedicated to the idea. I’m disappointed to read that that isn’t something you observed during your time on the team, and would love an opportunity to gather a bit more insight so we can take necessary actions to correct any ongoing issues. I’d like to encourage you to submit details to us anonymously through EthicsPoint (https://bit.ly/1NPNZHS) our reach out to me directly by phone (905-717-8264) or by email (rroos@venterraliving.com), as soon as you have a free moment. Thank you again for sharing your experiences and, in advance, for helping to shed a bit more light on them.

Pros

Decent company. Offers health benefits,401k.

Cons

I agree with another review about Venterra losing alot of good employees. Venterra rather let a long term employee go instead of giving them a raise. The cost of training a new employee and hoping it works out is worth giving a long term employee a raise alone. Venterra feels that if you ask for a raise it's only a temporary fix and your not happy and your going to leave so they rather let you go. That's not the case most 90 percent of the time. If a employee invest years in a company especially a company that does not offer stock options like venterra all we want is to make sure we our compensated well enough and don't have to leave and look for a new job.

Thank you for providing the review. We’re glad that you’ve enjoyed a number of the benefits that we offer, but I did want to address the concerns you raise, as well. We understand that fair and competitive pay is a huge part of an overall positive employee experience, so we utilize tools including industry benchmarking and regular evaluations to dictate pay as employees start with us and grow within the organization. As you mention, there are countless benefits to retaining valuable employees while keeping turnover at a minimum, so it’s critical for us to offer pay that’s well-aligned with individual employee qualifications and skills. Having trained our Experience Leaders on this principle, we encourage those who feel their salary should be reviewed to have a conversation with their supervisor on the topic at any point. As these conversations should be open and transparent dialogues, they should also help clear up any confusion about what’s prompting them. If you feel a separate conversation needs to happen to cover this in more detail, please feel free to utilize EthicsPoint or reach out to myself directly to discuss. Thank you again for providing your feedback here.
