Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We appreciate your observations and that you noted our great potential as we evolve from having one genomic diagnostic on the market to three during the next year. Your comments are taken to heart, since we aspire to be our teammates’ “employer of choice.” As we’ve evolved and grown as a company, we’ve worked to ensure our internal communications evolve and grow as well. This is not an exact science, and we appreciate feedback like yours so that we can continue to improve. Currently, we host a variety of both regularly scheduled and ad hoc company-wide events, and communicate with employees in a number of ways to help keep everyone up to date and informed. Our performance management system is designed to align each teammate’s development goals with departmental and corporate objectives and opportunities throughout the year. We do this through team meetings, 1:1 coaching and performance dialogues. We continue to look for ways to grow our managers so that they inspire, motivate and, in turn, help each member of their team grow. We know that effective communication and management will be key to realizing our full potential. Regarding pay, we regularly participate in several industry surveys, and find that we’re competitive. Finally, all of our senior executives would like to be able to know every employee’s name (and those of their family members!). This is becoming more of a challenge, as we now have more than 200 employees in our South San Francisco headquarters, as well as in Austin and across the country in our field sales force. Having said that, we are continually working to make this a tight-knit community and appreciate constructive feedback. Thanks again. We wish you every success. - VP of HR

Toxic, distressed

Pros

Very laid back in terms of hours, vacation time, and remote work, compared to other small diagnostics companies

Cons

Company split down the middle between hard-working, focused people who put in an honest day's work, and people whose lack of professionalism is truly astonishing. Clashes between these factions abound. Behavior is routinely tolerated that never should be in a place of business. Right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing. Operationally, still running like a tiny six person start-up, but with 200 employees--rapid growth has not led to increased maturity of company. Company doesn't realize it's publicly traded. Poorly managed all around. Toxic work environment. You can do better in the Bay area.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We’re always keen to learn what’s on the minds and in the hearts of our past, current and future teammates. At Veracyte we strive to create an environment in which our team members see “work” as an integral, fulfilling and welcome part of their lives. Indeed, many team members tell us they view their being at Veracyte as almost a calling, related to our patient-centric mission. We believe high performance is based on commitment, accountability and execution. These attributes, and our passion for patients, are driving us to the goal of having three commercialized products by the end of this year – an aggressive goal for a genomic testing company that is only eight years old. Have there been operational bumps along the way? Of course. And there will continue to be from time to time as we evolve. After all, we are not just offering new tests; we are creating new markets as we use genomics to transform disease diagnosis so that patients who don’t need surgery can stay out of the operating room. Veracyte may not be the right place for everyone. However, our team has voted us a “Best Place to Work” for two years in a row. We wish you all the best on your path! -Vice President of Human Resources

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on Glassdoor. We believe most people would agree with your observation that Veracyte team members are “genuinely friendly.” We’re sorry to hear that your experience at Veracyte did not fit with our goal of making this a great place to work, as we take this goal very seriously. Input like this is helpful, as we constantly assess our performance and look for areas where we can potentially improve. We strive for open communication with all employees because we view each team member as a valuable contributor to the company’s mission and success. Most feedback we get from employees is quite positive, with team members often telling us that they feel empowered to take on new challenges or offer up creative ideas to address business challenges. In fact, we have been chosen as a “Top Workplace” by the Bay Area News Group two years in a row, based solely on employee surveys. Our CEO has also been named one of the “Bay Area’s Most Admired CEOs” by the San Francisco Business Times because of her strong leadership and our company’s success. As we grow, we are working hard to ensure that we continue to make this a place where people are excited about coming to work each day. Re: benefits and bonuses. In benchmarking against current industry survey data, we find that we’re competitive. We annually conduct an employee benefits survey, and continually enhance our programs as possible, based on the expressed needs of our team. Regarding career goals, if you’ve participated in our semi-annual individual performance assessment and career development discussions, you know that we emphasize finding ways to match team members’ ambitions with Veracyte opportunities. This takes performance, communication, creativity and timing. We’re sorry if your career plans did not fall into place at Veracyte. And, wish you every success in your future endeavors. -Vice President of HR
