The people are the only reason to work at this company. The friendships and relationships I have sustained here will last a lifetime.

Cons

The opportunity for upward mobility and advancement is very small here. There is fervent favoritism at all levels of management. Opportunity is constantly given to those that are less knowledge, less educated, and close to those in charge of the hiring process

Valassis was a great company to work for. Like many companies, if you are willing to put in the effort, you will be rewarded. During my tenure I was able to move to a variety of departments and positions which helped me learn and grow personally and professionally. I've had great managers and not so great managers but have always learned something about myself. Valassis does value a positive attitude and passion which will open doors to new opportunities. I feel fortunate to have worked with so many incredible people in a welcoming and family like culture. My time here was truly a rewarding experience and it was a tough decision to leave.

Cons

After ownership of Harland Clarke, many things changed. Especially the moral of the company. It was a confusing time not knowing what to expect. But soon afterward the lay offs started to occur and moral lowered further. With the rumor mill in full swing circulating negativity throughout the company, more folks left on their own.
