Still a great place to work

Pros

As a long term employee (well over 20 years) I have seen the ups and downs throughout the years. What I have appreciated most about my tenure is a) my ability to impact the bottom line is on ME, and I've always felt I had an impact. b) The culture here is wonderful. Not fancy or over the top, but genuinely and solidly cool to work with great people . c) Leadership cares. When you are live life, life sometimes hits hard...I have ALWAYS felt supported through the ebbs and flows of my journey, and that's why I'll stay here.

Cons

No job is perfect. No leader is perfect. No company is perfect. Associates who expect such will spout negativity, which is counter productive to our culture and perhaps this is not the place for you.

Sinking ship

Pros

Co-workers understand the plight of one another so they have a certain camaraderie with each other. Work life balance is so so. Depending on manager, working remotely is available. Average to just below average benefits (I guess this is a pro?)

Cons

Employees have become despondent due to dysfunctional leadership. Talented folks jump ship quickly. HCHC has quickly sucked the life out of Valassis. Compensation is a joke, always has been even under Valassis. What little perks were granted are all gone. Reduced paid holidays, increased work loads and hours.

Pros

Dedicated associates, good 401k match, flexible work schedules allow work from home, optional jeans everyday, good exposure to leadership even for junior associates

Cons

Experienced associates are leaving, medical benefits are expensive and poor, bonus targets are unreasonable, reactive instead of strategic leadership focus
