      VeriFone Continues to Stumble

      Pros

      The pay is good.

      Cons

      This company will use you for everything you have and will then blame you for executive management failures. There is still plenty of house cleaning that is needed to improve this company, especially marketing. They occasionally fire or layoff co-workers to remind us all to stay in line. This company can take a good thing and destroy it. This includes people and acquired products. There is little future in terminals, but Verifone can't do anything to get out of the terminal space. They bought Sailpay and quickly destroyed it. Then they bought Globalbay and destroyed that too. The negative energy of this place is too heavy to recover.

      Huge separation between management and workers

      Pros

      High tech jobs in an area that doesn't have many. Excellent compensation for upper management. Not so much for the grunts.

      Cons

      Former 18 year employee. The product design "teams" (of which I was a part) are spread throughout the world and project communication of task allotment, schedules and priorities are not adequate. Non-existent actually. Schedules were set with zero input from the people doing the work. I was very glad when I was laid off.

      Pros

      Can work remotely--good I guess. Cool coworkers but that's about it.

      Cons

      Management has no idea what they are doing---so subordinates take the blame. Improper training for NEW employees. Would never recommend working here as it's not a very long term career trajectory. You're most likely to get stuck in a dead end job and will micro-manage every task you do. EGOS galore.
