Pros

Verisk has a lot of good things going for it, both in terms of internal resources and its products. The focus on DEI is very strong and the employee networks seem well-run. Pay is pretty competitive.

Cons

This is the most exclusionary, cliquish workplace I have ever encountered. Rules are enforced unevenly, "outsiders" are treated unfairly, and sometimes work-related information is withheld from people who aren't in the "in group." The fact that many in leadership not only buy into but reinforce this favoritism is extremely frustrating. Also, in my time at Verisk I've seen a number of small layoffs and a bunch of people who are managed out of the company. This may not be a good place to look for long-term stability and growth.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We will take it into consideration as we identify how we can evolve our support of employees in career progression. In fact, because of employee feedback and participation in the most recent engagement survey, we invested in numerous programs to promote from within the organization.

Pros

There are many hard-working employees. Work/life balance can be good but not in all groups. Diversity and inclusion efforts are strong. Can advance career - people always leave and there will be openings.

Cons

Cronyism at the top level - most have been there forever and evermore set in their ways. That is where most of the compensation goes. No advanced thinking or strategy. CEO doesn't push next level to execute at higher level or innovate. 'Friends' get promotions and raises. The rest get little even when well below market - hard to make money. Advanced thinkers get sidelined if pressing advanced ideas - most are pushed out. Accolades and promotions for useless differentiation i.e. you play the party line.
