Great CRO To Work For

Business Outlook

Pros

I've spent 15+ years working for CROs and this one maintains the small company feel despite the fact that it is growing. Veristat offers a great work-life balance, with a flexible work environment. Veristat is like a family, is very team-oriented and offers a fast paced environment to grow and expand your skill sets. Everyone here makes a difference. We work hard, but we have fun.

Cons

As with any smaller company, we all "wear many hats" and have to do many things which sometimes are slighty outside of our realm of expertise or comfort zone. I love the variety of work and learning new things so I don't mind. If you don't adapt well to change, then this is not the environment for you.

Great if it's your first job, otherwise beware.

Pros

Flexible work hours, good benefits especially for a small company, very dedicated to work they are doing.

Cons

There is little to no room for movement within the company. They claim that they like to provide opportunities for advancement but this never really occurs. The company is seriously understaffed for the amount of work we have and management is unreasonable with expectations.

Good Entry into Clinical Field, Poor Opportunity for Experienced Workers

Business Outlook

Pros

Good place to obtain an entry level position in clinical fields such as biostatistics, project management, medical writing, and data management. It can be difficult to break into these fields. Veristat has several great clients who are passionate about their pipelines/products and patient populations; generally they are very appreciative of work done on their behalf. Periodically, Veristat tries to encourage team building by having such activities as ice cream socials, Halloween carving contest/party, themed food gatherings, company meetings, and Christmas lunch.

Cons

Variable salaries (below industry norm, although may be worthwhile to obtain entry into clinical positions) with mediocre benefits (401k with some matching, health insurance with deductible, and company does not pay for life insurance or disability). Challenging working environment, with poor communication between groups and senior management - silence within the office is encouraged, as is working at your desk during lunch. Greater than 80% billable hours required. Working long hours, including weekends, is not unusual. Better work life balance, greater appreciation for your position, and better salaries can generally be found working for Sponsor/pharmaceutical companies. Higher than average turnover rate.
